UseMyAccent.com provides an opportunity for ordinary people to register as “Readers” - and to be paid by actors, to read specific lines in their own native accent.
When an actor needs to use an accent they’re not familiar with, they generally have tolearn the accent from a CD, television programs or films. The difference with UseMyAccent.com is: the Actor can have the specific lines he'll be using, read in the Authentic accent, on an mp3 file. Through this, he can work on the correct pronunciation of the actual words he'll be delivering.
UseMyAccent.com is a website which enables actors to search for a “Reader” whose native accent is the one required for the role. The Actor is then able to contact that Reader, and send payment and the script by email, directly to the Reader. He will receive, in return, an mp3 file with the exact words he’ll be using, read in the authentic accent. The Actor can then work with the recording, and perfect the accent in the lines he will be delivering in performance, or for his show/voice-reel.
Anyone 16 years old and over can register as a Reader, but each Reader may only register one accent – their own, natural one. This is to ensure the accents are authentic. After joining the site, Readers will upload a short sample recording onto their profile which will give Actors the opportunity to choose a voice they prefer. Actors will also be able to leave feedback on the profile of Readers, to encourage good service.
Membership of UseMyAccent.com is free, and the service is available to Actors and “Readers” of all nationalities, Worldwide.
